This week I am reviewing Ship Breaker, a post-apocalyptic Dystopia by renowned science fiction writer Paolo Bacigalupi. Ship Breaker did that perfectly. There is that delightful confusion at the beginning, followed by complete understanding of a complex world. It was recently on sale to promote his next novel, The Drowned Cities. What impresses most about Paolo Bacigalupi's second novel, Ship Breaker, isn't just that he wrote a teen novel. Ship Breaker is a book that I've been meaning to read for the longest time. Set at some point in the indeterminate future, Ship Breaker could easily fit into the worlds that have been established in Bacigalupi's other stories. The story begins by giving us a look at Nailer's life and job as a ship breaker, stripping copper wiring (ship breakers strip everything that can be reused, and it's then bought by large companies). Ship Breaker is Paolo Bacigalupi's second novel and his first in young adult fiction. I bought it either at the beginning of this year or the end of last, and I have only just found the time and motivation to read it.
